St Vincent de Paul Parish | Things to do in City of Manila-Metro Manila

St Vincent de Paul Parish St Vincent de Paul Parish St Vincent de Paul Parish
The concrete church was built in 1912 in honor of the Vincentian Sisters of Charity's 50th anniversary in the country, replacing the chapel that was constructed in the same site in 1883. Japanese soldiers wreaked havoc to its interiors in 1945, just before the end of the war. In 2010, St. Vincent de Paul Church underwent a full renovation to become the architectural icon that it is today. The church is named after St. Vincent de Paul, who founded the Congregation of the Mission in 1625, a community of priests and brothers whose end is "to preach the good news to the poor" and the Daughters of Charity (1633).

Intramuros, located along the southern bank of the Pasig River, was built by the Spanish in the 16th century and is the oldest district of the city of Manila, the capital of the Philippines. Its name, taken from the Latin, intra muros, literally "Within the walls", meaning within the wall enclosure of the city/fortress, also describes its structure as it is surrounded by thick, high walls and moats. During the Spanish Period, Intramuros was considered Manila itself.
